Connect Bing Webmaster Tools

Connect Bing Webmaster Tools to add Bing clicks, impressions, queries, and top pages to your project's SEO Performance report.

You need access to the website in Bing Webmaster Tools. Add and verify it there before connecting if it is not already available.

Connect through authorization

  1. Open the project and choose SEO Performance.
  2. Select Connect Bing Webmaster Tools.
  3. Sign in to the account that can access the website and complete the authorization flow.
  4. Select the correct site when you return to Searcherries.
  5. Select Connect selected site.

Authorization and site selection are separate steps. If the report asks you to Select site, complete that step to finish the connection.

Connect with an API key

Searcherries also provides an API-key connection option, including when an authorization workaround is offered.

  1. In Bing Webmaster Tools, open Settings, then API Access.
  2. Open API Key, generate a key if necessary, and copy it. The key belongs to the Bing account, not just one website. Microsoft's API access guide describes this process.
  3. Open the Bing API-key connection page in Searcherries.
  4. Enter the key and choose Connect and select site.
  5. Select the website and confirm with Connect selected site.

Searcherries validates the key before saving it. It stores the saved key encrypted and does not display the value again. The key itself grants account-wide Bing API access, even though Searcherries uses it for read-only site and performance requests.

Reuse a saved key

Searcherries stores one Bing API key per account. When adding another project, choose Use saved API key and select that project's site.

Replacing the saved key can affect other projects using it. Make sure the replacement account can access all the sites you want to keep connected, and review any affected projects afterward.

Disconnect or forget the key

Disconnect on a project's Bing card removes that project's connection.

Forget saved key removes the account's saved key and disconnects every project using it. The same account-wide removal is available in Profile when a saved key exists. Read the confirmation carefully if you manage several projects.

Troubleshoot

No sites found: check the Bing account and verified-site access.

Reconnect needed: authorization is no longer valid. Reconnect using the action shown or use the API-key option if available.

Temporarily unavailable: the connection may still be saved while Bing data cannot be loaded. Use the displayed retry action and check the last successful update.

Bing does not populate the Google question-opportunity table. SEO Performance explains which datasets belong to each provider.
