Citations

The Citations report shows URLs recorded as sources for the AI answers collected by Searcherries. It helps you inspect where the platforms obtained supporting information.

Open a project and select Citations.

What the URLs represent

The report includes sources across the answer: your website, competitor websites, media articles, directories, reviews, documentation, and other pages. It is not limited to citations of your brand or domain.

A cited page is not necessarily a backlink to your website. It may not mention your brand at all. For example, a comparison article can be cited in an answer that recommends several competing products.

Source information also depends on what the provider exposes. Where source provenance is available, distinguish a page cited in an answer from a source consulted during research. Neither proves that a person clicked it.

Select the scope

  1. Choose the reporting period.
  2. Select All questions or one customer question.
  3. Choose a platform from the platform selector above the URL table.

Switching platforms helps reveal differences in their sources. The same URL can appear for more than one platform, and the count for one platform is not a count of your own website's citations.

Inspect a URL

Use the URL link or external-link action to open the page in a new tab. Use the copy action to copy its address. The table includes recorded occurrence counts so you can identify sources appearing repeatedly.

Use Search this page to find text in the currently displayed rows and pagination to inspect the rest of the list. Search does not automatically scan every page of the table.

Use citations to plan content research

Pick a question important to your business and examine several sources used in its answers. Look for concrete information: product capabilities, pricing details, comparisons, definitions, case studies, or local information.

Ask whether your own pages explain the relevant facts clearly and whether they are accurate and current. A recurring third-party source may also help you understand where information about your category is published.

The aim is to understand the information used in answers. Simply increasing the total number of URLs in this report does not, by itself, improve your brand's performance.

If the list is empty

Check the platform, question, and period. Some answers have no exposed source URLs, and a new project may still be collecting its first results. An empty list should not be interpreted as a broken connection to Search Console or GA4; those integrations do not supply this citation report.
